Fish and Chips
Fish and chips are personal taste. Yet everyone thinks they know best.

I have found over the years that people really cannot agree on what constitutes good fish and chips. Everyone has different tastes—I prefer a crispier batter and don’t like a pool of grease.
We tried Audrey’s in Bridlington under duress from the mother-in-law. She had said a few times she had been without us and it was fantastic.
My wife agreed they were absolutely fucking shit. They were the third most expensive we had ever sat down to eat. The fish didn’t taste like fish and it was strangely flat: no flakes of meat, just small yellow grease.
At the end of the meal the mother-in-law said, “Well, that was absolutely gorgeous,” to our complete dismay. Unsure if she said it because she recommended it, because she likes that it’s named after a woman, or just that she really does like them.
We tried Busy Bees in Bridlington with her, as I had a good fish butty there on my own. She said she enjoyed them. They couldn’t be more different to Audrey’s—different batter, dark not yellow, thicker fish and no grease.
So who knows? And they were five quid less.
Eat where you want and tell others to fuck off.
Same thing with curries too.
